This holiday season, protect your own heart, notice how you are feeling from day to day. Treat yourself to the love, care, and safety FIRST!
As beautiful as the holiday season is, for me, it can carry a lot of overwhelm and anxiety. These past few years have been different for me because I began to just notice. I noticed what I loved about the holiday season and the things that brought on the anxiety and overwhelm. Then, I placed a little extra focus on my self-care habits. I now have many little self-care habitis that I can fall back on and practice at any given time. However, boundaries & expectations were my top 2 that made the difference and I continued to focus on throughout the year.
How can you protect your own heart and support yourself this holiday season?
Self-Care Holiday Tip#1
đź’š Boundaries– What are your boundaries? Protect your own energy and time so it’s spent on what is actually most important to you. Such as, spending time with a grandparent and listening to the wisdom that they have to share, calling a friend that you haven’t seen in a while, and just connect.
Self-Care Holiday Tip#2
đź’š Expectations– Drop the expectations. In my mind, expectations always led to pressure and pressure led to anxiety & overwhelm. This made it so hard to enjoy and be present during the holiday season. Expectations doesn’t allow us to remember what matters most. Personally, all I want now is a simpler, more peaceful, holiday season from here on out. It’s not about the perfectly decorated home, the perfect photo for a holiday card. It’s about the LOVE, the quality time that we have within our four walls, with our extended family and friends. It’s simply just being together.
Bonus Tips:
✨Stick to the Basics- Healthy whole foods, water, sleep, exercise & a loving, supportative community.
✨An afternoon alone @ a cafe with a good book or your journal.
✨A hot bath with essential oils and a beautiful candle.
✨A self-message.
✨Restoratative yoga/Yin yoga.
✨Time spent with your parents or grandparents.
We ALL have a choice. We don’t have to continue traditions from the past. If it doesn’t feel good in our own heart now… LET IT GO. Give yourself the ok to do what feels right and good to you.
In whatever way you choose to spend the holidays this year, I hope with all my heart, this season leaves you fulfilled and content.
These are my thoughts for Thursday!
From my heart to yours, Sending you Love and Light,
Stacey ♥️
