A Grateful Heart

The real importance of gratitude; sadly, everywhere we turn, we are reminded of how little we might have rather than how much we have to be grateful for. Recently I journaled, Why is it so important to be grateful every single day? Since that journal post 4 months ago… I realized over time, gratitude when practiced everyday can change your life. Being mindful to practice gratitude daily, makes you appreciate what you have rather than what you don’t have.

No matter the state of our lives, no matter what goals we have accomplished, or what we have become over the years, it has everything to do with focus. While some things might be out of control, much of what happens is based on our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and this is a response to our focus. There are things that we may all take for granted, whether it’s the roof over our heads, the food on our plates, or the cloths on our backs. It’s there and we always expect those things to be there. But…sadly for many people it’s not there.

I truly believe gratitude should be a part of who we are rather than something we just are a little bit more mindful of during the holidays or whenever something good happens in life.

“Gratitude is the single most powerful source of inspiration that any person can tap into if they simply just stop and paid attention to the simplistic beauty and miracle in life.”

Today, I am grateful for my curiosity, which in turn keeps opening up doors to a more meaningful, purposeful life.

I am grateful for the moments that slow me down, the one’s that cause me to take my time. For instance, for the cashier at Shaws supermarket who was moving extra slowly.

I am ever so grateful to god, for every inconvenience that is causing me to learn and grow.

I am grateful for my teenage daughter, who is teaching me to let go of control, little by little and to just TRUST.

I am grateful to a dear friend of mine who taught me…”to just be real with my kids” in those tough moments of parenting my children.

I feel so blessed and grateful to my husband who is so open to embracing all of this new knowledge about health and wellness and everything in between. For being open to my present activities and open to manifesting our future plans. I couldn’t be more grateful for his unconditional love, support and laugher along my way.

I am grateful for my son, who keeps me cuddling him, especially when I am so overtired and ready to call it a night.

I am thankful to my daughter, Vanessa who I see myself within every passing day. The nurturing, loving, artistic, nature loving, and who has the purest unconditional love for ALL animals and who’s heart is filled with love for everyone around us.

I am so grateful for my baby girl, Leah, who reminds me to be remember the joy and to have fun, to dance, sing, color & draw which is keeping my creativity alive.

My puppy… I am thankful for my daily walking buddy, who keeps me enjoying our beautiful Mother Nature even when it’s cloudy or cold outside.

…and to this beautiful 84 year old woman, whom I am blessed to call my Vava, I am so grateful for all her beautiful life stories she shares with me over tea, and for helping me keep our traditional Portuguese Thanksgiving stuffing alive.

I wish you all a beautiful, blessed Happy Thanksgiving.

May you express gratitude every single day.
