YOGA ~ Tadasana: Mountain Pose

You may think I am just standing here enjoying the beautiful sun rays on my face?! Well, yes, I am ☺️ but more so… I am fully present …right here, right now… in this moment. This is the beauty in the simplicity of yoga.

This yoga pose is known as Tadasana-Mountain Pose, and it has many benefits. Such as, strengthening my things, knees, and ankles, toning my abdominal and glutes, using every muscle in my body begining from the ground up. Tadasana is also very important for a healthy spine, also helping to increase height. 😀

Practicing this pose helps me to relieve my sciatica pain, and helps calm my mind.

This pose IS the foundation pose for all standing poses. It’s a very active, strong pose that improves your posture, balance and focus.

Here I am, challenging my balance by practicing Tadasana with my eyes closed, learning to balance without any reference to what is around me…connecting with myself. Learning how to be strong and steady like a mountain, helping my mental, physical, and spiritual health. Practicing the ability to find stability, ease, contentment and non-grasping in a day filled with constant movement.

Before practicing yoga, it was rare that I actually spent any time lieterally just standing still. Just being. I was constantly engaged in the doing, in the pursuit of achievement, and surrounded by different forms of social media. There never seemed to be enough time to just stand still. I know for myself, I needed to practice this pose more than ever.

What can you discover about being still?

The practice of standing still can actually reveal our most basic ingrained habits; where does the weight fall in your feet? Is your back hunched or are your shoulders relaxed? Are you clenching your fists or jaw or holding your breath? Does your mind wander or are you focused in this particular task? Are you in the moment HERE & NOW?

Come home to yourself. Feel the power of this pose, feel the profound, deeper meaning of this simple pose. You may even come to the conclusion that this pose could be the most important asana ( a yogic posture or movement ) you practice everyday. You can also practice this pose thoughout your busy day: While brushing your teeth or standing in line. Once you continue, you may find yourself standing and sitting straighter throughout your day with reduced back pain and a calm, clear mind… as I do.

I assure you, the more you practice this pose, the more you will experience it’s subtle, meditative qualities…one breath at a time. 😌

Sending you much love & light!

From my heart to yours, Stacey 💗
