From Sisterhood to Self-Care: The Retreat Experience That Still Inspires Me Today

Self-care, soul connection, and the power of women gathering

A Year Later, My Green Goddess Retreat Still Feels Like Yesterday

Last fall, I had the chance to attend a Green Goddess Retreat in the mountains of Vermont, and even though almost a year has passed, I can still remember every moment as if it were yesterday. That’s the power of soulful connection. Some experiences stay so deeply in our hearts that they become part of us, and this weekend retreat was one of them.

From the moment I arrived at our big, cozy mansion tucked among the brilliant fall colors, I felt something shift inside me. The crisp air, the scent of pine, the stillness, it all created a kind of peace I didn’t even realize I needed. It was the kind of space where you can breathe again, slow down, and feel held by the world around you.

Each sunrise began with gentle yoga, slow stretches, quiet breaths, soft morning light spilling over the mountains outside filled our room. Those sessions weren’t just physical movement; they were grounding, heart-opening reminders of how good it feels to come home to yourself. And sharing that space with other women made it even more meaningful. We laughed, we talked, and we connected in ways that felt natural and nourishing.

Our days were filled with the simplest joys: delicious, nourishing meals made with love, nature hikes surrounded by autumn’s glow, wandering through the nearby town with a warm coffee in hand, and peaceful sunsets that invited reflection. But the nights around the campfire were pure magic. Wrapped in blankets beneath a sky full of stars, we shared stories, whispered dreams, and let our hearts be seen.

And then—my favorite part—we danced, danced, and danced.
Whimsical, carefree, joyful dancing around the fire, moving as if no one was watching. We twirled, laughed, and let our bodies express every ounce of freedom we were feeling. There was something sacred in that wild, magical moment… a reminder of how good it feels to let go and simply be. Those nights by the fire will forever glow in my memory.

Looking back now, I feel nothing but gratitude. This retreat didn’t just refill my cup… it reminded me how essential it is to step away from the noise of life and reconnect with myself and with other women who see me for me.

I’m so thankful for my beautiful soul sisters from my yoga teacher training, who run the All That Matters Yoga Studio, for creating such a loving, transformative space. Their hearts, guidance, and presence helped shape an experience I’ll carry with me always.

And the best part?
I’m already looking forward to the day I can attend another retreat like this. I can feel the excitement building even now… the chance to reconnect, to reset, and to experience that same deep sense of belonging all over again.

Why taking time for yourself—especially with other women—matters so much:

  1. Emotional Support:
Being surrounded by women who genuinely care creates a safe, healing space where you can open up, share, and feel understood.

  2. Mental Clarity:
Stepping away from daily responsibilities gives your mind room to breathe, reset, and see life with fresh perspective.

  3. Soulful Connection:
There is something powerful about gathering with women…our stories, our laughter, our presence. It reminds us that we are never alone.

As I look ahead, I carry these memories with deep gratitude and so much love. This retreat is a chapter I’ll never forget, and one I can’t wait to relive in new ways, with new lessons, new connections, and the same open heart.

Here’s to more moments of sisterhood, self-care, and connection.

From my heart to yours, Stacey
