Back to the Basics: A Journey to Simple Living
At 46, a mom of four, my life is full- a beautiful chaos. There’s so much love, but also there is the constant hustle of meeting everyone’s needs. Lately, I’ve felt a gentle whisper—one that calls me to take care of me, the woman at the center of it all.
I realize now that taking care of my well-being isn’t just a luxury; it’s essential. When I’m nourished—mind, body, and soul—I’m able to pour more love into my family. And so, I’m embracing this new challenge: going back to the basics of simple, mindful living.
Starting Small, Starting Simple
It’s easy to overcomplicate life, but I’m choosing simplicity. Here’s how I’m taking care of myself:
•Whole Foods: Eating good, nourishing food makes so much of a difference… Food is medicine! Fresh fruits, colorful vegetables, and hearty proteins. Meals prepared with love remind me that my body deserves the best.
•Hydration: Drinking enough water feels like such a small thing, yet it’s so powerful. Staying hydrated keeps my energy up and my mind clear.
•Sleep: In bed by 9:30. I’m giving myself permission to prioritize rest. A good night’s sleep is the foundation of my energy, and my health.
•Stillness: Every day, I set aside 20 minutes of stillness. Sometimes it’s a quiet walk in nature; other times, it’s sitting in silence, letting the world stand still  for a moment.
•Movement: I’m moving my body everyday—not to check a box, but to keep my blood flowing. Whether it’s 20 minutes on my elliptical or rebounder to get my heart rate up or flowing through my yoga practice. Movement has become another way of taking care of myself.
Honoring Relationships:
As much as I want to nurture my kids, I’ve learned that the foundation of a strong family begins with my marriage. My husband and I are prioritizing our relationship, creating meaningful moments to connect through the busyness. By strengthening us, we give our kids a model of love and partnership that keeps them safe,
I’m also focusing on deepening my bond with each of my children. I want to see them where they are, understanding their unique needs and personalities in this season of life.
Morning Rituals: A Return to Presence
One of my favorite practices is my morning candle and prayer ritual. Lighting a candle, saying a quiet prayer, and setting an intention for the day fills me with peace and purpose. It’s a sacred moment where I reconnect with my heart and God.
The Joy of Imperfection
Living this way isn’t about perfection. There will be days when I skip a workout, call for the takeout, or enjoy in that second glass of wine. And that’s okay. I’m learning to have compassion for myself, to honor the season I’m in, and to embrace life’s imperfections.
Building a Heartfelt Community
Part of this journey is about connection—creating a women’s collective heart community where we lift each other up, share our truths, and remind one another that we’re not alone. Together, we can celebrate the beauty of simple, mindful living and support each other in our growth.
Is This the Secret to Longevity?
I don’t know if these practices will add years to my life, but I do know they’re adding life to my years. By focusing on self-care, nurturing my relationships, and living with intention, I feel more alive, more joyful, and more present than ever.
So here I am, a mom of four at 46, returning to the basics and embracing the beauty of a simple, mindful life. It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it. One day at a time, one moment at a time, I’m choosing to live with love, purpose, and gratitude.
From my heart to yours, Stacey ♥️
